We are still on the fever series, and today; we will be looking at ๐๐ก๐ง๐๐ฅ๐๐ ๐๐๐ฉ๐๐ฅ.
An enteric fever is a systemic illness, characterized by a high fever, abdominal pain and non-specific symptoms; such as: vomiting, headaches and anorexia, diarrhoea or constipation.
It is caused by salmonella enterica, typhi and paratyphi.
It is contracted through contaminated food/water or close contact with other people.

Treatment for the enteric fever involves the use of antibiotics, paracetamol, intravenous fluids and occasional bed rest. After completing the treatment, we recommend the patient be vaccinated against enteric fever. The vaccine protects one for 2-3 years.
Preventive measures such as: properly washing vegetables and fruit, drinking clean water, and cooking food properly are also advised.
