What is Viraemia?
It is one of the major causes of fevers, and it is the presence of viruses in the blood stream.
๐๐ต ๐ถ๐ด๐ถ๐ข๐ญ๐ญ๐บ ๐ฑ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ด๐ฆ๐ฏ๐ต๐ด ๐ธ๐ช๐ต๐ฉ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ง๐ฐ๐ญ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ธ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ ๐ด๐บ๐ฎ๐ฑ๐ต๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ด:
Fever, chills, headache, poor appetite, nausea, vomiting, generalised malaise, etc.
Some of the commonest causes of viraemia are HIV, COVID 19, influenza, Rotavirus, etc.

๐๐จ๐ง-๐ฌ๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐๐ข๐ ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐๐ญ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ invovles managing the fever and other ancillary symptoms. This is done by tepid (lukewarm) sponging, drinking warm fluids, use of Paracetamol tablets or injections, multivitamins and antiemetics.
Also, bedrest and use of Intravenous infusions are very helpful.
๐ฆ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ณ๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ involves the use of antiviral medications (either tablets or injections).
Some of the viral illness are preventable with use of vaccines such as Rotavirus, hepatitis A and B, and so on.
